Library Privacy: Past, Present, Future

From the Patriot Act to data brokering vendors, library and patron privacy has been consistently threatened in both physical and digital domains – and is particularly under fire today. What role do libraries play in supporting privacy for the public, and how should we build communities to fight against a surveillance society? Over almost twenty years, these questions have been at the forefront of librarianship and technology in the public interest, with practitioners, advocates, and activists leading the way.

Join Library Futures in conversation with library privacy experts Alison Macrina (Library Freedom Project), Sarah Lamdan (CUNY School of Law and author of Data Cartels from Stanford University Press), and George Christian (former Executive Director of Library Connection and one of the Connecticut Four).

This event is in support of #SOPAPlus10 and the #BetterInternet campaign.
