Meikle Syme Hall is a management consultant for non-profit entities and
is very pleased to serve as Secretary of the board. Meikle started her career in New York City’s film industry with the
intention of using her music degree from Bennington College to write
scores for film and television. She found her niche in the business and
production side of the industry working for a music video production
company, Bell One Productions, and later a documentary company, Varied
Directions. Meikle worked as a comptroller, production manager and line
producer on music videos, independent documentaries and television
series including several episodes of “NOVA” and "American Experience”
for PBS, and “Portrait of America” episodes for Turner Broadcasting. Looking for a new direction, in 1993 Meikle moved to San Francisco,
acquired an email address and discovered the beginnings of “online”
media. As production manager for WAIS, Inc, she applied her film
production skills and methods to the publication process of the first
corporate websites. Early clients of WAIS included: LA Times, Library of
Congress, Dow Jones, NFL, The Wall Street Journal and Encyclopedia
Britannica. When WAIS was purchased by America Online, Meikle was put in
charge of special projects and then AOL’s Training Department leading
the migration of AOL’s content creators over to their new development
platform, “RAINMAN” and then later to HTML based content. In 2004, Meikle moved back to her family on the coast of Maine to raise
her two children. For the past few years she has been providing
management services and consulting for non-profits and is committed to
lending support to the digital future of all libraries.
