Emily G. Finch received her BA in English (Literature and Cultural Studies) and History from Kalamazoo College and her MSI from the University of Michigan School of Information. Currently wrapping up the requirements for a Museum Studies Certificate from the University of Michigan Rackham Graduate School, she was recently accepted as a JD/Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law LLM candidate in the University of Miami School of Law's Class of 2025.
After spending graduate school focused on intellectual property and privacy law in relation to libraries, archives, and cultural heritage institutions, Emily took a position at Kansas State University. Providing copyright reference, offering research and publishing support, and administering open access publishing and OER initiatives, for the last two years Emily served as K-State's Scholarly Communication and Copyright Librarian.
Emily’s passion for empowering libraries and users has and continues to dictate her academic and professional career. At a time when threats to access and misunderstandings about copyright law are more and more egregious, Emily could not be more thrilled to take a more active role in supporting Library Futures.
